For boats

La Plata bay is difficult for sailing, even dangerous. Beware of strong winds from all directions, high waves, currents and moving shallows. Keep close to the main buoyed marked channel. Keep a sharp look for high speed catamarans (50kn) which enter or leave the main harbour basin.

Contact Prefectura Naval (call sign Lima dos Golf) or Marina Puerto Madero on VHF CH 16 or 71 half an hour before arriving.

Yacht Club Puerto Madero is located in Digue 4, which is entered by a swing bridge from the Darsena Norte basin. You have first to contact with marina to arrange opening the bridge.

Bridge opening hours :

The marinas dinghy will meet you and show a berth place.

230V and water on quays.

Fueling is a bit difficult. You have to call via marina office a truck (2 days in advance) and pay extra 1500 pessos for truck comming + about 14 pessos per liter of diesel (Jan. 2016). For fueling you will be moved  to moor in another place in the basin .

If you need no more then few hundreds liters and you have a lot of containers you can talk with marina captain Fernando, to arrange a car and to visit petrol station by car. Extra payment will be lower and the proccess of fueling goes easer.

Gas – ask in marina office, they can arrange filling your bottles or buying a Brazilian one.

Formalities:

Go to Prefectura Naval Argentina ASAP (even during the night). Their office is open 24hrs. It’s located at the end of basin nr 4 (when You pass the marinas gate turn right and walk to the nearest bridge on the right and pass a street on the bridge).

You have to visit Immigration, which is located in long yellow building on av. Antartida Argentina. You will pass on your right a Buqebus station, then a harbour basin. Enter the building via gate nr 3, then go out to the back yard and move to the building no 5 room 21.

You have to visit a customs (Aduana) which is located in Buqebus terminal, close to the swing bridge. Go to the help desk named Aduana.

For crews

WC, Showers, WiFi (in marina building),

In Buenos Aires we suggest to visit Plaza de Mayo, Casa Rosada, Obelisco, National Congress, Evita Peron’s grave located in Recolette Cementario, San Telmo (tango and restaurants), La Boca (stadium of Boca Juniors and Caminito street) and neighborhood of Puerto Madero.

If you need to change money you can do it in Buqebus terminal (exchange office) rate 13.1 pessos for 1 dollar or on the blue market – rate 13.8(rates from jauary 2016), when you walk through the city center  you will hear “cambio, cambio” – that’s private market, still legal, with better rates but sometimes false banknotes.

Supermarket Coto is a bit futher than Immigration office. The prices are double than in Europe.

Fees

Boat 14x4m 6800 pessos per week, about 1100 pessos per day (electricity and water included).
